    Conduct A Great Hiring Interview

    Effective interviewing helps you discover the knowledge, character and goals of those wishing to join your team.  Truly great interviewing allows this to happen while preserving the respect and dignity of all applicants.  This session with Mike Brown, Director of HR with E.J. Prescott in Gardiner, Maine, explores the mindset, methods and specific questions that create a great interview.  It will reach beyond the "what do you know?" towards the "how will you grow?" questions.  We'll discuss overlooked sources of information, including body language, attire, handwriting, and conversations with previous employers.  "Illegal" interview questions will be briefly discussed.  Are they truly illegal, and how do you manage situations where applicants voluntarily disclose information you really don't want to hear?  And, the concluding element is a look at how you treat your applicants.  Note well that the recruiter controls the first impression an applicant has of your company, and applicants will carry those memories into the world whether they become your employee or not.  We'll discuss just what it means to treat applicants with dignity and respect.
