    Description

After a decade of historic growth, America’s aging workforce has been blindsided by the unprecedented disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The combination of layoffs and/or severe volatility in the financial markets has forced many to rethink their retirement plans… and the Social Security & Medicare filing decisions upon which those plans are often built.

This fast-paced, engaging presentation looks at the Social Security & Medicare basics that are in play for older employees, then explores some of the specific challenges that have emerged as this group attempts to navigate the unique, and often complex, eligibility and enrollment landscape where retirement & healthcare benefits intersect with Social Security & Medicare.

This program offers valuable content for HR professionals of all levels, and can be of personal interest to older HR professionals approaching retirement themselves.

    Learning Objectives

    1. Understanding specifics of how the Covid-19 Pandemic has shifted the factors older employees must now consider as they approach Social Security & Medicare filing decisions.
    2. Build a solid knowledge base regarding the basic benefit structure of these foundational American retirement programs.
    3. Gain knowledge of specific Social Security & Medicare eligibility and enrollment issues that arise in the context of work-related retirement and healthcare benefits, thus becoming a more effective 'frontline' resource for older employees.

This program is valid for 1.0 PDCs through SHRM and 1.0 General recertification credit hours through HRCI
